Update* - after reading through some of the 2k comments and speaking with family etc ..and as it's been barely 24 hours... I've decided to at minimum pay all the utilities up and at least half the rent. Though I'll probably pay the full rent and hotel it up for a couple weeks. We have multiple animals but two dogs that will be

coming with me eventually. The break up was a culmination of a particular issue that we had/have fundamentally different thoughts processes on and would be way too much for here and provide enough nuance and perspective from both sides for.

Also, she didn't work because child care is expensive and it made more sense financially for us which I was completely okay with. She did odd jobs that were available when she could.

The oldest childs dad is a nice enough guy but has never paid CS, and three younger kids dad is who was a dumbass to deal with especially in the beginning, who also doesn't pay CS but does have the younger kids on weekends when he decides to be reliable, so about 50-60% of the time. Might as well

be an every other weekend dad. That's all folks. I was not expecting this to blow up like it. has. Clarity: the concert was not just me and exes daughter. It was going to be my ex, her daughter and friend and then myself.

Hi, I've been with my gf for almost 3 years, she has four kids and we live together.. We've had this complicated argument that we've come down on opposite sides of the fence on and she is ready to call it quits on our relationship. She broke it off with me today. Argument aside, she has

requested I stay through the next month to give her enough time to figure out her and her kids living situation, along with still bringing her teenage daughter to a concert we had planned in the middle of next month and asked that if I do leave immediately that I at least pay half of rent and bills etc..
  • 09
Side note: I'm our only income and pay all the bills and rent. Would I be the ahole if I left immediately and didn't pay rent and bills as it's not the new month yet? Or is giving her half of everything reasonable?

Also, I don't know how I feel about sticking around to go to the concert when the trip was going to cost us(me) well over $1000 and is a 20 hour drive each way.
  • 11
My instinct is to continue forward normally and just pay the bills up for the next month, which will put me in a weird situation of not being able to afford to move out immediately. I'm inclined to decline the request to go to the concert still as it was literally sprung on me without a discussion and I just agreed to it

because her daughter was super excited and I wanted it for her as well, but I will end up needing that money to foot the bill to either move back home (another state) or find a place here if I stay. Advice???
  • 13
EDIT The argument is very complicated. But I would say it's not a volatile breakup or even a bad one.

She also has offered to figure out how to pay half the rent/bills for November though I'd cover them initially. Same with the concert. There is no lease, and most bills are in her name as she lived in the house prior to us meeting. So she gets the house regardless of payment situation.

Wrong_Moose_... • 18h ago • . Tell her to find her own way to the concert and move out whenever you want, I'd leave ASAP though. She doesn't get to dump you and use you in the same breath, you're not her ATM. Move on and good luck, NTA

Caspian4136 18h ago. NTA if you just leave now, she's the one to end it but then wants you to still pay for her and her kids? F that.
  • 18
Also, a hard pass on the concert. You're going to need that money to get your own place, which is what you should be focusing fully on right now.

Newbie053 18h ago • Have some self respect for yourself. She broke up with you but wants you to help her by paying rent and bills etc. You don't owe her anything after the break up.

    • apietenpol 18h ago • Who TF drives 20 hours one way to see a concert??

N 18h ago Edited 18h ago She doesn't want you, she doesn't want your paycheck Pack your belongings and leave ASAP. When the relationship ends, it ends with everything that goes with it. She is old enough. to know that. Why would

you stay to be her personal ATM and Uber driver? It's the end of the month, it's time for you to go and use that money to sign a lease on your own place. 20 hour drive each way for a concert, your car, gas, your $1000 and your PTO?

40 hours is an entire work week. You should be looking for apartments to rent as in right now
